Waterfalls Project

Learn about the Waterfalls Project. A project undertaken by one of Thules global ambassadors and professional kayaker Pedro Oliva from Brazil. Pedro describes the importance of studying society’s impact on the rivers that run through Brazil’s urban landscape. The conclusion? Society is disconnected from our fundamental resource – water.

Reconnect Society To River

Join Pedro Oliva as he starts his journey to reconnect society to our fundamental resource; water. Pedro introduces Thule global ambassador Maria Kuzma, and they begin their mission to find solutions around reconnecting society to rivers. The conclusion? Under the project name Recycle Build, Maria and Pedro commence a project to construct a building out of sustainable locally sourced materials within an existing school that is located close to a river. The building will be used for water sports, environmental education and implement waste water gardens that showcase IOT systems.

03

Bamboo

Discover the world of bamboo and how Recycle Build will construct its future building out of it. Maria Kuzma introduces bamboo architect Helena Ruete. Helena describes what it’s like to work with the most underutilized construction material and why it is important to build with this elegant and sustainable material.

04

Mocabarro Clay Women

Meet the Clay Gals aka Mocabarro and learn how these incredible women build structural and aesthetic walls all from locally sourced sustainable materials. Maria introduces one of the Clay Gals, Aiana, who shows the walls and even shows a mockup of the rendering technique, tadelakt.

05

Waste Water Gardens

An important part of the Recycle Build project is reawakening society to their water use. By implementing waste water gardens within the building, fed by toilets, the users of the building can see a measurable impact of their water use via the waste water gardens shading the building. Meet Fernando who will build the gardens and be inspired by his simple and impactful flood gardens within the city of Sao Paulo.

06

IPESA

Learn about IPESA, an award winning NGO that will be supporting Recycle Build and writing the school program so that it runs nicely for years after the construction.
Pedro and Maria adventure a partner project of IPESA, Banana Bamboo Eco Lodge, where IPESA’s systems are showcased including waste water gardens, educational programs, agroforestry and more…

Carbon zero with Bio2 Floresta

Recycle Build will not ignore its carbon footprint in the making of this project and is open and transparent about the C02 emissions the project will create. Pedro and Maria explain how Recycle Build can have a carbon neutral impact through Bi02’s forest. Explore the forest and learn why it is necessary to replant and maintain trees, the lungs of the earth.
